It's the hottest and most fun-tastic summer ever at The Fine Arts Association! Fine Arts camps combine authentic, hands-on learning with summer fun and friends. Each camp is facilitated by Fine Arts faculty who are specialists within their arts discipline. This is a great time to refine skills or discover something new! Camp fees include all supplies. (Please note that some camps request students to bring a snack and drink to be enjoyed during their session.) Hurry! – space for each program is limited. (Sorry, early registration incentive not applicable for Summer Camp programs.)

NEW this summer!! Need an early morning pre-camp drop off or after camp care for your camper?

Andrews Osborne Academy's (AOA) Extended Day Program is available for The Fine Arts Association's (FAA) campers, ages three through fifth grade. Morning campers will be escorted from AOA to their FAA camps at 9:00 am. Those attending the afternoon Extended Day sessions will be escorted from FAA to the AOA Extended Day program area after their camp. It's safe, convenient and a great option for working parents. Theatre Arts Camp Jr. 2010 (grades K-2)

All ability levels welcome. No previous experience required.

Is your young "performer" ready to take the stage? If so, Theatre Arts Camp Jr. is their perfect introduction to the art of theatre. This camp experience, especially designed for children in grades K-2, introduces children to a multitude of theatre techniques as they bring this year's theme Charlotte's Web to life. In addition to working with theatre faculty, children work with visual arts faculty to create basic costuming and props. An informal Sharing Day highlights this 6-week experience the final day of camp. Bonus! Each student receives a special TAC Jr. 2010 T-shirt! (cost included in camp fee).

Please note: Due to the age of the students, this program requires active parent participation to assist children with learning a "script." Campers should bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage to camp each day to enjoy during a short break. Maximum enrollment: 20 campers

Theatre Arts Camp 2010  Download the TAC Handbook (PDF)

All ability levels welcome. No previous experience required.
This camp is designed to introduce, educate and enrich young people in grades 3 through 12 to the creative world of theatre. The theatrical aspects of music, dance, theatre and art are all covered in this fun, active learning experience.

Get ready to "let freedom swing" this summer as you explore the music, dances and artists that helped G.I.s overseas, and Americans on the home front get through World War II with this year's camp theme Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

For more than thirty years, this fun, interactive camp has helped campers understand how the theatrical aspects of music, dance, theatre and visual art interrelate. Classes and rehearsals are designed as lessons in acting methods, dance technique/composition, voice/music skills and visual art design. Collaboration, creative problem solving and backstage protocol are also emphasized. Camp culminates with a fully staged student production the final weekend of camp. Bonus! Each student receives a special TAC 2010 T-shirt! (cost included in camp fee).

Young Actors Ensemble 2010 (grades 9-12 and 2010 high school grads)

All ability levels welcome. Previous theatre experience encouraged, but not necessary.
This camp is for students entering grades 9 through 12 and 2010 grads who want to enroll in an intensive acting study. In this challenging program, creativity, collaboration and discipline are emphasized as students explore the acting process in a supportive and nurturing environment. Areas of focus: acting technique, movement, ensemble work and vocal work. The Young Actors Ensemble provides a balance between studio work and performance by culminating in a showcase production at the end of the session. *Note: this is not a musical theatre class. Bonus! Each student receives a special YAE 2010 T-Shirt! (cost included in camp fee).
Placement in this camp is by audition. All ability levels are considered. Previous theatre experience is encouraged, but not necessary. The student's depth of dedication to learning about the craft of theatre is considered in the selection process.

Dance Camp 2010 (grades 3-8)

All ability levels welcome. No previous dance experience required.

This camp is for students who love to dance! It is designed to engage students in a multitude of dance styles. All ability levels are welcome! Two class groupings allow students to work with other dancers of similar ability and experience.
Students spend each morning of camp exploring different dance styles (ballet, tap, jazz and modern). After a brief break with a snack (students bring from home-no nut-based foods please) the session ends with a unique dance experience. On Tuesdays, students are immersed in learning various choreographic styles. On Thursdays, guest artists challenge and inspire them. Each student receives a special Dance Camp 2010 T-shirt (included in camp fee). The 6-week program culminates in a pizza party and Sharing Day performance on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 7 pm in the Corning Auditorium.

Visual Arts Camps

Paper, Scissors, Rock! Visual Arts Class (ages 6-9)

Hey, kids, if you love creating, making and imagining this camp is for you! Campers create sculptures using clay, paint and wood, paint a landscape on canvas, make sun catchers, luminaries, a garden stepping stone and so much more! Class will be conducted both indoors and outdoors on beautiful summer days. Each day consists of two one-hour arts experiences, plus a snack break (children bring snack – no nut-based foods, please). Dress for mess and come for fun! All supplies are included in the camp fee.

Dig This! Visual Arts Camp (ages 9-13)

Do you love Indiana Jones and other adventure stories? In this camp YOU are the adventurer and the super sleuth. While inventing your own civilization, you explore the archeological methods needed to reveal it to the world. Using the examples of ancient cultures, students create artifacts, mythologies, maps and even writing systems. Follow in the footsteps of modern archeologists using a variety of methods to solve the riddles of past societies. Each afternoon includes hands-on activities, discussion and lots of opportunities for creative problem-solving. Students participate in their own archaeological dig and create an exhibition of their findings to share with family and friends. Please bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and drink each day. Also, bring a sketchbook and pencils to the first class. All supplies are included in the camp fee. By popular demand, Dig This! has been extended to six weeks this summer. Whether you are a new or returning explorer, this camp is for you! Maximum enrollment: 12 campers

Music Makers Camp 2010 (ages 4-8)

This camp is designed for the young mover and shaker that loves music. After being divided into age-appropriate groups, campers sing, move and create as they are introduced to a multitude of musical styles and instruments. Weekly guest artists join the FAA faculty to provide campers with unique, interactive musical experiences. Campers should bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage to enjoy during the break. Camp ends with a Sharing Day performance for family and friends the final day of camp where students share what they learned.

Very Special Summer Camps

Back by popular demand! Very Special Music Camps are open to children and adults with varying special needs. Enrollment is based on a first come, first served basis. Class size is limited, so enroll today! Each session is led by one of The Fine Arts Association's Board Certified Music Therapists.

You, Me & Rhythm! (ages 4–8)

Come explore rhythm in a positive, fun, camp-like environment. On Tuesdays, campers explore various rhythm instruments, learn different rhythmic patterns and participate in drumming circles. On Thursdays, "campers" join Music Makers campers where they meet new instruments and enjoy a hands-on music experience. Working with peers, campers learn social skills, attention-to-task and communication skills. Each student receives a Very Special Music Camp T-Shirt! (cost included in camp fee)

Let's sing! In this camp, children sing songs (from pop to musicals) as they take turns being the ‘soloist,' singing in the ‘choir' and singing in a group as a whole. Within the group, campers learn how to critique peers and give positive feedback and how to accept criticism and positive feedback. They also learn leadership skills and how to socially interact within a group peer setting. Each student receives a Very Special Music Camp T-Shirt! This camp is uniquely designed for participants with severe to profound mental, physical and language needs. Campers engage in fun and motivating music experiences through the use of singing, playing adaptable instruments, verbal and non-verbal communication, visual and auditory stimulation and fine and gross motor movement. Does your child show an interest in starting to play a musical instrument? Come learn more about the music program at Fine Arts through this hands-on workshop where children are introduced to the instrument families through stories and instrument demonstrations.
