Teaching Technique:

Phyllis teaches a technique which, regardless of style (Classical, Music Theater, Jazz, etc.), attributes to great flexibility and expression, tonal freedom, intense and sonorous tone, and good diction skill. It all depends on a steady and firm breath pressure (breath-control) more technically referred to as Diaphramatic-Costal Breathing. She will fully demonstrate this technique so you can utilize it for more satisfying singing regardless of style.

Teaching Philosophy:

Her philosophy is to teach one "how to sing" which requires more than learning notes and words. She recommends students be no younger than age 13 or 14 because of body development and mental discipline required. She will audition a student if younger. For singers who wish to refine and polish their skills, vocal coaching is available to further develop the essential aspects of professional performance – Style, Musicality, Phrasing, Color, Diction and Stage Presence.
